At Reef Experience, we’re more than just a reef tour—we’re a passionate team dedicated to sharing the magic of the Great Barrier Reef with every guest who steps onboard.
As part of the GBR Tours family, Reef Experience is our Great Barrier Reef day tour, departing daily from Cairns to two Outer Reef sites. If you are looking for an overnight reef experience, we can also help you choose from a range of carefully selected liveaboard partners operating on the Great Barrier Reef.
Since our early beginnings in the 1990’s, we’ve remained committed to showcasing the incredible natural wonder that is the Great Barrier Reef. Launched in 2008, Reef Experience was designed to deliver the ultimate full-day reef tour—combining comfort, speed, and unforgettable marine encounters.
Our vessel is the fastest of its size and type, getting guests to the reef in just over an hour. Onboard, you’ll find a spacious sundeck with oversized lounges, a licensed bar, and a large indoor saloon fitted with waterproof seating and locally inspired artwork.

Our passionate and experienced crew are the heart of everything we do. From marine biologists to dive instructors, each team member is here to ensure you have a safe, memorable, and magical time on the reef. Whether you’re a strong swimmer or a first-timer, our crew will guide you every step (or fin kick!) of the way—even jumping in the water to support non-swimmers so they too can witness the beauty of the reef.
